BJP candidates file nomination in Panchkula, Kalka
BJP Panchkula candidate Gian Chand Gupta filed his nomination papers at the Mini Secretariat in Panchkula. The BJP leader accompanied by numerous BJP workers took out a padayatra from Tawa Chowk in Sector 10 to Major Sandeep Shankla memorial. He was accompanied by former Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb, BJP district president Deepak Sharma and Banto Kataria, among others.
While talking to mediapersons after filing the papers Gupta said the Congress had failed to reveal the name of its candidate from Panchkula and that it was divided in various groups. Deb also attacked the Congress saying it was not operating like a cohesive unit. "A Congress leader is abroad, another is in hospital and they are yet to announce the names of their candidates."
BJP Kalka candidate Shakti Rani Sharma filed her nomination papers early Wednesday morning at the SDM office. Sharma then led a roadshow from party camp office in Kalka to the Kali temple in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, hundreds gathered at the temple in support of Congress candidate Pradeep Chaudhary. The gathering took out a march around the city carrying party posters and flags, ending at the SDM office.
Talking to mediapersons Chaudhary said due to the BJP, people of the state as well as those in the constituency were faced with numerous problems. "Be it civic issues of stray cattle menace, traffic management and road infrastructure, and management of daily waste, Panchkula residents are fed-up of BJP rule in the state," he said.
