Zirakpur to have 16 sectors on UT pattern

Zirakpur would be divided into 16 sectors on the pattern of Chandigarh.

It is pertinent to mention that Dera Bassi MLA NK Sharma along with the Zirakpur Municipal Council in 2017 had issued a notice to transform residential colonies and surrounding areas into sectors.

Cumbersome computation to allocate proportionate area based on population was a major reason for late implementation of the project, the MLA said.

Sharma said tenders for signboards and maps were floted in 2016. He added that map of each sector and address would be uploaded on Google, which would make finding destinations quite easy.

“Zirakpur developed quickly and organising it into sectors is the need of the hour,” said Sharma.
