Abohar, September 1

The family members of a youth, who was found dead on the railway track about a week ago, led a protest and blocked Alamgarh Bypass Chowk on Sunday. They accused the deceased’s suspected girlfriend’s family of murder. The family members blocked the chowk and caused the traffic to come to a complete standstill. A team from the city-2 police station reached the spot; however, the deceased’s family refused to end the dharna until the girl’s family was arrested.

Youth’s kin holds his picture during the dharna.

The family of the deceased, who started dharna at around 11 am, said Mohit was a student of Class 12 in the government school in the village. They said on the night of August 26, some youth from the village called him, adding that Mohit did not return after that. The family said upon finding their boy missing, they began searching for him and found his charred body lying on the railway lines the next morning.

They claimed Mohit was having a love affair with a girl of the same village, due to which her family had come to their house after reprimanding him. They alleged that Mohit was killed and his body was thrown on the railway track.

The family said the girl and her family were absconding from the village after Mohit’s death. They urged the police to register a case against the girl’s family.
