Youth stabs wife to death

New Delhi, September 2

A 21-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife in West Delhi on Sunday night. The accused, identified as Gautam, a resident of Raghubir Nagar, was arrested in the early hours of Monday.

The incident came to light around 1.20 am when a head constable, while patrolling the area, reported detaining a suspicious individual found wandering shirtless.

“Upon questioning, the accused admitted to killing his wife and leaving her body in a car,” said a police official.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Gautam, who had married 19-year-old Manya just five months ago, murdered her following an argument. The couple had married in March without their families’ consent and had been living separately, meeting only occasionally.

According to the police, the fatal argument occurred when Gautam met Manya in a car in the Titarpur area of Rajouri Garden.

“Manya insisted that they should start living together, which led to a heated argument. During the altercation, Gautam inflicted multiple stab wounds on Manya,” the official said. The accused told the police that the incident happened on September 1.

After realising that Manya had succumbed to her injuries, Gautam parked the car near the Shivaji College red light and attempted to flee.
