A 26-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death near his residence in Moti Nagar, West Delhi, on Wednesday night by his minor brother-in-law.

The deceased, identified as Raja Babu, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead upon arrival. The accused was arrested by the police.

DCP (West), Vichitra Veer, said, “Based on the information recorded so far, the minor was unhappy with his sister’s marriage to the victim. Additionally, the victim would regularly tease him. These factors provoked the minor, resulting in this incident.”

The victim’s father, Ganga Ram, informed the police that his son, who married about a year ago against his wife’s family’s wishes and lived in the same locality, had ongoing disagreements that sparked tension between the two families over the past year.

“Initial investigations revealed that the victim’s marriage was not accepted by his wife’s family, leading to recurring arguments between the families,” said an officer.

“Although there were disputes, no formal complaints had been lodged with the police prior to this incident,” the officer added.

The police have registered a case of murder and detained several suspects, specifically family members of the victim’s wife. Officials clarified that there is no communal angle involved in the case.
