Youth shot dead in clash, three arrested

The Jalandhar Rural police arrested three persons and booked eight others involved in a violent clash between two rival groups at Ughi village.
The incident occurred late last night near the Jalandhar-Kapurthala border, prompting a thorough investigation by the police. Assailants fired shots during the clash claiming the life of one person and injuring another.
The deceased was identified as Kulwinder Singh, alias Kindi, son of Charan Dass, resident of Kala Sanghian. He had sustained critical injuries after being shot. Another individual Jatinder Kumar, son of Sham Lal, from Kular, Kapurthala, suffered gunshot wounds and is currently receiving treatment at Shri Ram Hospital, Jalandhar.
An FIR has been registered.The arrested individuals have been identified as Gurpal Singh, son of Manjit Singh, residing in Sidhwan Dona, Kapurthala; Balkar Singh, son of Jaspal Singh, residing in Sidhwan Dona, Kapurthala; and Nazir Gujjar, resident of Awadan, Jalandhar. Five more persons are named in the case.
SSP rural, Jalandhar, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said the arrests were made within hours of the incident. “Our teams acted swiftly to prevent further escalation and ensure that those responsible were apprehended,” SSP Khakh stated.
He also highlighted the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region, especially considering the history of conflict between the groups involved.
The SSP said investigation revealed an old rivalry between the two groups. During the investigation, the police recovered a car, two mausers and eight rounds of ammunition.
