Youth found dead near Ghaggar, police suspect honour killing
In a case of suspected honour killing, the Panchkula police found the body of a 22-year-old youth lying in a pool of his blood on the banks of the Ghaggar river, outside a residential society in Sector 27. The deceased was identified as Binder, who was originally from Nepal and was currently living in Barwala.
Police officials said an official on duty at the emergency response vehicle (ERV) informed them about a body lying under a gazebo near the AWHO society, adjacent Ghaggar.
SI Karnail Singh, SHO Chandimandir police station, said the body was recovered with multiple stab wounds on the head and other body parts, with blood oozing out of them.
He said some passers-by informed the ERV official, who further informed the police station officials. Singh said, as per preliminary investigation, three youths, including two brothers, committed the crime. He said, as per the information received, the youths suspected that Binder had an affair with one of the boys’ sisters. They then called him to the site on Friday night on the pretext of celebrating a birthday where they committed the crime after an altercation.
The body of the youth was later taken to Civil Hospital Sector 6 for a post-mortem examination. The police recovered empty bottles of alcohol, a syringe, a lighter, and other items from the site of the murder.
SI Karnail said the Police Department had started an investigation into the matter. “A team of doctors also reached the spot. We have collected blood and DNA samples for investigation. Further, we have formed four teams to nab the accused. The teams have been dispatched to different locations to nab the accused,” he added.
