A 26-year-old resident of Burjmuhar village near the bypass here was allegedly attacked with sticks and other weapons by some people of the same village on suspicion of theft. He was severely injured and his legs were fractured after the attack. The victim has been admitted to the civil hospital for treatment.

The victim’s family said at around 11.30 pm he went with his maternal uncle to help a farmer set up a water line. They said about six people attacked him, suspecting that he was a thief. The family said when Shavinder’s uncle tried to intervene, he was attacked too. The uncle ran away and informed the family about the attack.

Shavinder’s family members, along with a member of the panchayat, reached the field at night; they saw that Shavinder was lying there in a semi-conscious state, soaked in blood, with wounds on his legs. They brought him to the Abohar Civil Hospital for treatment.
