Youngster dies as two groups clash over old enmity

A clash occurred between two groups at Fateh Singh Nagar in the Daba area on Tuesday night in which one person lost his life.

The deceased was identified as Daljit Singh, alias Kaka (25), a resident of Preet Nagar.

SHO, Daba, SI Gurshinder Kaur, said Daljit had come to meet his friend Jagroop on Tuesday night. Since the latter had an old enmity with another group, the duo indulged in a clash with them. Both groups attacked each other with swords and also pelted bricks.

During the clash, Daljit suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital where he died during treatment. Four other persons had also suffered injuries, the SHO said, adding that statements of the deceased’s kin were being recorded and action would be taken as per law. No arrest had been in the case so far.

CCTVs installed in the area also captured the incident.

Sources said the deceased and his friend had a criminal history as cases were registerd against them in the past.
