Yogi takes swipe at Rahul, says 'accidental' Hindu opposed to Ram Temple

In an apparent dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday evening said an "accidental Hindu" raised in Roman culture could not digest the fact that Ram Temple had been constructed in Ayodhya after 500 years.

Taking exception to the "naach-gana" remarks by Rahul, he said they should remember that their family had been dancing and singing all their lives. He alleged that by insulting Hindus abroad and criticising Sanatan Dharma and targeting constitutional institutions, the Congress had undermined its credibility.

Addressing public meetings at Bawani Khera, Hansi, Narnaund, and Safidon segments yesterday, the UP CM accused the Congress of filling its own coffers rather than carrying out development and welfare of the weaker sections of society. He claimed that the double-engine government of the BJP in Haryana and at the Centre had ensured the development of the state.

He alleged that the Congress stated that Muslims had the first right to the country’s resources, whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that the first right belonged to the poor, the marginalised, the Dalits, and the backward sections of society.

He said despite Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s opposition, the Congress included Article 370 in the Constitution to maintain relations with Kashmir, ultimately leading to the rise of terrorism in the country. But the Modi government scrapped the Article, he stated. He accused the Congress of trying to create a divisive scenario for Hindus, which could lead to conflicts within the community.
