Yamunanagar MC begins replacing tubelights with LEDs
The Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), has begun replacing tubelights with LED lights in twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri.
The replacement work of tubelights has begun in Wards 5, 14 and 18 of the MCYJ.
The MCYJ has decided to replace old sodium, compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) and tube lights with new 41,000 light-emitting diode (LED) lights in the twin cities.
“The Municipal Corporation has started the work of replacing 41,011 streetlights. Under the LED light project; old sodium, tube lights, CFL, closed and damaged tubelights will be replaced with LEDs. The replacement work of tubelights with LED lights has begun in the Municipal Corporation Wards 5, 14 and 18 on Monday,” said Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha.
According to information, the MCYJ has fixed a target of completing the work of by March 2025, so that the problem of frequent streetlight failure could be reduced to a great extent.
Ayush Sinha also held a meeting with officials of the MCYJ on Monday to discuss the issue of replacing tubelights with the LED lights.
At the meeting, he issued instructions to all officials and employees to do a good job and improve the streetlight system.
While giving instructions to the officials of the MCYJ, Sinha said they should ensure smooth installation in every ward. He said they should check every streetlight point in every colony. He instructed the Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers, electricians and helpers to resolve complaints related to streetlights within 48 hours.
He further said the action would be taken against the employees, who do not resolve the complaints within the stipulated time. He said if the cable of any light was faulty, it should be repaired.
Sinha said they had recently received approval from the Urban Local Bodies Department to install 41,011 LED lights in the MCYJ area.
As per available information, the project was stuck due to the code of conduct imposed following the Lok Sabha and Haryana Assembly elections.
As soon as the elections were over, the MCYJ officials began efforts to complete the project.
