A US family had the shock of their lives when one of their cats gave birth to a two-faced kitten.
A family’s farm cat in Oregon gave birth to a litter of six kittens. Amongst them was a “Janus” kitten with four eyes, two noses and two mouths.
The cat’s owner BJ King told CNN that they “were pretty shocked”. The family has named the kitten Biscuits and Gravy.
Two-faced cats are known as “Janus” cats, named after the Roman god Janus. Janus had two faces looking in opposite directions, one towards the past and one towards the future.
These rare kittens don’t usually survive for more than one day. However, a “Janus” cat named Frank and Louie lived for 15 years, also appearing in the Guinness World Records book.
Biscuits and Gravy only has one brain stem, but can eat, suck and meow using both of its mouths, CNN reported. The family has decided to give away all the kittens except Biscuits and Gravy.
