Workshop on hospital safety and disaster management in Mandi
A three-day workshop on hospital safety and disaster management was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan at the Regional Hospital in Mandi district. Organised in collaboration with the Bal Raksha Bharat and the Health Department, the event saw the participation of over 40 doctors from health, AYUSH and animal husbandry sectors.
During his opening remarks, DC Devgan emphasised the need for a comprehensive approach to safeguard healthcare services during disasters. He stressed that the preparedness of healthcare professionals is as vital as that of other responders, highlighting the impact disasters can have on children’s mental health, a concern specifically addressed by Bal Raksha Bharat representatives.
Dr Tanvi from Bal Raksha Bharat underlined the workshop’s goal to equip health services for swift emergency response. Representatives Mohammed Asif and Sunil Kumar provided insights into the effects of disasters on children’s well-being.
The event was attended by ADM Dr Madan Kumar, Chief Medical Officer Dr Narender Bhardwaj, District Health Officer D. Dinesh Thakur, Dr Pavnesh and representatives from the District Disaster Management Authority.
This workshop aims to strengthen disaster preparedness in hospitals, ensuring health services are capable of responding to emergencies and supporting the community effectively during crises.
