Punjab Minister for Local Government and Parliamentary Affairs Dr Ravjot Singh has urged the newly elected panchayat members to work diligently for the development of villages and the welfare of the public, aiming to provide facilities comparable to those in cities.

Addressing the newly elected 3,127 Panches at the JJ Farm in Kapurthala district today, Dr Ravjot Singh stated, “The decision by the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, to conduct the panchayat elections without party symbols has established a foundation for unity in our villages.”

He noted that as a result of this decision, over 3,000 village panchayats were elected unanimously and will soon receive a grant of Rs 5 lakh.

Dr Ravjot Singh encouraged the panchayats to utilise the governmental grants with complete integrity to foster development in every aspect of village life.

He particularly urged the women panches to focus on promoting higher education for girls. Earlier, the Cabinet Minister administered the oath to the newly elected Panches, emphasising their duty to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of the country while fulfilling their responsibilities with honesty and loyalty to the Constitution of India.

The event also featured Rajya Sabha member Balbir Singh Seechewal and AAP leaders Joginder Singh Mann, Sajjan Singh Cheema. Chairperson of the District Planning Board Lalit Saklani also addressed the panches.

Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal, SSP Vatsala Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Varinderpal Singh Bajwa, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Navneet Kaur Bal, Municipal Commissioner Anupam Kaler, Chairman of Improvement Trust Gurpal Singh Indian, AAP joint secretary Parvinder Singh Dhot, Member of Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Kanwar Iqbal Singh, Chairman of Phagwara Improvement Trust, Kashmir Singh, Chairman of Sultanpur Lodhi Improvement Trust, Pradeep Thind, Chairman of Market Committee Jagjit Singh and Chairman of Sultanpur Lodhi Market Committee Mohammad Rafi were present on the occasion.
