While inaugurating the four-storey Sub-Division Complex in Dirba, built at a cost of Rs 10.8 crore, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasised the state’s commitment to fostering unity. He said, “We will not allow anyone to sow seeds of hatred in Punjab as our religious festivals, such as Ram Navami, Sangrand, Eid, Diwali, Lohri and Hanuman Jayanti are shared by all.”

The CM said AAP had never engaged in religious politics. Instead, it focused on development through education, better schools and improved healthcare services with well-equipped schools.

Mann highlighted the spiritual and cultural harmony in the state, noting that the land is blessed by the Gurus and its villages are adorned with statues of martyrs. He added that people across the state listen to Gurbani from gurdwaras, the message of the Gita from temples and the teachings of the Quran from mosques every morning, emphasising that no one would be allowed to spread hatred.

While addressing agricultural concerns, Mann said the central government had been pushing for large-scale diversification without providing enough financial support to farmers. He pointed out that diversifying away from paddy would result in significant losses to farmers, who contribute 180 lakh metric tonnes of paddy annually to the nation’s food supply. He highlighted that the Centrewas pressuring the state government to register FIRs against farmers for burning paddy straw.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema assured the people of his constituency Dirba that the development works would continue at a fast pace in their region. The new four-storey building has offices of the SDM, Tehsildar, BDPO, DSP and CDPO.
