Women badminton tourney begins at Ghumarwin college
Sports constitute an important element in education and without sports, education is inclomlete, said Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani while inaugurating the three-day Himachal Pradesh University Women Badminton Championship at Swami Vivekananda Government Degree College at Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district today. As many as 70 women players from 17 colleges of the state are participating in the championship.
He said, “Education is not just excellence in academics but is about overall personality development of students. Sports play a major role in the personality development of an individual. Sports help in developing a healthy body, mind, discipline and teamwork among players and that make a perfect human being.”
He said that with the passage of time, sports had become more technical and players need to focus on their goals to achieve the desired targets in life. He added that this was an era of artificial intelligence, which had influenced every sphere of life, including education and sports.
Dharmani said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu had increased the reward money for players, who would win medals in international games. He added that the Chief Minister was also improving sports infrastructure and this would encourage the youth to keep away from drugs.
