Ludhiana South MLA Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina presided over as the chief guest on the third day of the 65th Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival, Zone 2, held at Government College for Girls, Ludhiana. College Principal Suman Lata warmly welcomed the MLA as well as other special guests on the occasion.

In the cartooning contest, Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, bagged the first prize, while Arya College, Ludhiana, stood second. Surbhi Jain of Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, won the individual event in cartooning; Monish Jindal, Arya College, Ludhiana, finished as the first runner-up; while Anchal of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, and Gurleen Kaur, Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, tied for the third spot.

Riya Maggo of Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, won the poster-making contest. Pallavi Kumari of Ramgarhia Girls College, Ludhiana, won the second prize, while Mrigakshi Bhasin of Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, and Tamanna Sandar, Shri Atam Vallabh Jain College, Ludhiana, shared the third spot.

In the Indian orchestra event, Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, and Ramgarhia Girls College, Ludhiana; bagged the first and second positions, respectively. Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana, and SCD Government College, Ludhiana, stood third.

In the mime competition, team of the Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, impressed the audience and the judges to bag the first position, and Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, was adjudged the first runner-up. KLSD College and

In the individual category, Rajdeep Kaur of Government College, Rara Sahib, won the top spot. Shikha Rani of SCD Government College, Ludhiana, stood second. Komal and Afsana – both of SDP College for Women, Ludhiana, managed to secure the third position.

In the group song event, SCD Government College, Ludhiana, bagged the first prize, Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, was adjudged second, Ramgarhia Girls College, Ludhiana, and Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana, finished in the third spot.

In the individual event, Sneh Mary of Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, secured the first position. Rohit Kumar, Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, stood second, while Pushpinder Kumar, AS College, Khanna, stood third.

Hargunpreet Kaur of Ramgarhia Girls College, Ludhiana, won the classical (vocal) contest. Anisha of Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, stood second, and Dhun Verma of Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana, and Yogita Sehjal of DD Jain College, Ludhiana, shared the third spot.

In the ‘Geet’ competition, Harpreet Kaur of SDP College for Women, Ludhiana, was declared winner; Tanveer Singh of Gobindgarh Public College, Ludhiana, was second; while both Anisha of Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, and Rohit Kumar of Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, settled for the third prize.

The chief guest said, “Youth is the golden period of one’s life that is filled with opportunities and potentials. The college is fortunate to have a visionary principal, who continuously inspire and guides the students.”

“As long as the girls possess confidence and inner strength, no one can hinder their path to success. It is crucial that mothers and society as a whole support and empower daughters to become strong and independent individuals,” the MLA added. A number of competitions organised on the third day saw enthusiastic participation from students of various colleges.
