Will intensify protest against BJP: Farm unions
The SKM (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha today called upon farmers to stay united, strengthen the morcha against the government and oppose the BJP in the election.
The unions held a Kisan mahapanchayat at Pipli grain market to show their strength to the BJP and also asked the farmers make the call of Rail Roko of October 3 successful. The farmer unions earlier had announced to keep the tracks blocked for two hours from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm on October 3, to mark the anniversary of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.
Bhartiya Kisan Union (Shaheed Bhagat Singh) president Amarjeet Singh said: “The governments have been forming policies in the favour of corporate houses and have completely ignored the interests of farmers. If the farmers start thinking and working for the agriculture sector unitedly instead for political parties, no government will form anti-farmer policies. We will continue to struggle till our demands are fulfilled. The way BJP didn’t allow farmers to go to Delhi, they will not allow the party to form the government in Haryana. They will teach a lesson to the parties for not fulfilling their promises.”
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher, Abhimanyu Kohar, and Jagjit Singh Dallewal also addressed the mahapanchayat. Farmers from Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat attended the mahapanchayat.
Dallewal said: “The BJP leaders are running away instead of giving answers to the questions being asked by the farmers. Our young farmers were martyred and injured by the BJP government and tractors were damaged. I urge you stay united and keep asking questions from these people.”
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said no one could stop them from reaching Delhi. We have been protesting at Shambhu border for over 220 days and are getting stronger. We will get the legal guarantee on MSP and also reach Delhi to raise our demand. No one can stop the farmers, not even Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
