GARBAGE, especially wrappers of edible items, are being thrown in the forested area adjoining the Chhota Shimla-Sanjauli road, marring the image of the forests of the town. The authorities should keep an eye on people who litter forested areas, and impose a fine on such people. Kanta, Shimla

DEFUNCT streetlights in Shimla

SEVERAL streetlights on the Chhota Shimla-Mall Road stretch are not working. Due to this, commuters have to face a lot of inconvenience while commuting through this road during the night. There is always a concern of being injured or attacked by stray animals on this stretch of the road. The authorities concerned should fix these streetlights on priority in the interest of area residents. Madan, Shimla
