What our readers say: Stray dog menace on rise
STRAY dogs have become a major cause for concern in the city as a large number of canines can be seen roaming the city. In the absence of a focused sterilisation campaign, the stray dog population has reached an alarming stage. Panic due to stray dogs has spread across almost all localities of the city and residents have to face problems, especially during the night time. The officials concerned must take measures to tackle this issue at the earliest for the convenience of the residents.

Bidhkyar pond in state of neglect
THE Bidhkyar pond, which has historical links, is lying neglected. A portion of this pond, adjoining Dera Baba Sheetal Puri, has completely dried up. A strong stench is given out by the second portion, adjoining Jawahar Park and children park, which is visited by hundreds of residents daily. The Public Health Engineering and Irrigation Department used to look after the pond earlier, but no steps for the maintenance of the pond have been taken this year, with scanty rainfall worsening the situation. The civic body authorities and departments concerned should take steps to restore the glory of this pond.
