A large number of manholes and drains are lying open or in damaged condition, posing a threat to commuters, especially two-wheeler riders, in Faridabad. Though the number of such spots could be numerous in various parts of the city, one such spot is in the Kumarwada locality near the Sihi Gate area of Ballabhgarh town where a manhole, which is right in the middle of the road, has not been repaired for long. The civic authorities are requested to look into the matter and ensure that the problem is resolved at the earliest. —Pradeep, Faridabad

Tractors create traffic chaos in Sirsa

SISRSA is grappling with severe traffic congestion and one of the primary reasons behind this is the unchecked movement of overloaded tractor-trailers throughout the day. These vehicles, carrying various materials, occupy excessive road space, leading to constant traffic jams. Unfortunately, the traffic police seem focused solely on penalising two-wheeler riders, ignoring the large vehicles that disrupt the city's roads. The tractor-trailers not only worsen traffic, but pose a significant safety hazard. Accidents caused by heavy vehicles are becoming increasingly common. To improve the situation, the authorities must ban tractor-trailers from city roads during the daytime and set specific hours for their movement. Overloaded trailers, especially those carrying soil, violate traffic rules and spread dust across the city, worsening air quality. These vehicles should be covered to prevent dust pollution. It's high time the Sirsa SP and traffic police take strict measures to address this issue and bring relief to the residents. —Sumit Kumar, Sirsa

Stray animal menace on rise

Those responsible to ensure safety of people's life and property have turned a blind eye towards this grave problem. The problem has persisted for decades — from the Congress rule to the 10-year-rule of the present BJP government. The state government should take effective steps to solve stray animal problem on priority —Satish Seth, Karnal

Anti-glare fitting missing

THE anti-glare fittings installed on the median of the National Highway along the Jind-Patiala road are missing at several places, posing a significant challenge to motorists at night, as the bright headlights of other vehicles fall from the opposite side of the road. To ensure the safety of night-time drivers, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) should prioritise replacing and repairing these anti-glare fittings. —Ramesh Gupta, Narwana
