What our readers say: Lack of proper cleaning of roads causing dust pollution
The lack of a proper road cleaning system has become a major cause of dust pollution in various parts of the city. While a shortage of staff and machinery may be partly blamed, the available equipment is also not being utilised efficiently by the civic department. One of the automated cleaning vehicles, occasionally used to clean main roads in residential areas, performs the task only partially. The operator typically cleans only the road’s central divider, leaving the side brims — where large amounts of dust accumulate — untouched. As a result, this dust causes significant pollution whenever vehicles pass over the unpaved sections. Varun Sheokand, Faridabad
Resolve sewer water overflow issue
It is unfortunate that the residents of Chandernagar have been suffering from sewer water overflow for the past six months or more. However, the authorities concerned have not taken the problem seriously. The roads are flooded with foul-smelling water, making it difficult for people to pass through. If this issue is not resolved soon, it could lead to the outbreak of diseases. For the sake of public health, the problem must be addressed immediately. Subhash C Taneja, Gurugram
