Heavy rains have made a noticeable impact on the civic amenities in the city. While these have led to waterlogging and drainage problems in various parts, the rains have also led to growth of unwanted vegetation along the main roads. While the accumulation of rainwater and waste on the green belt pose a threat of vector-borne diseases and insects, bushes on the side of roads and dividers are not being pruned by the civic agencies like the Municipal Corporation, HSVP or the FMDA. Urgent action must be taken in the matter.

Nip unauthorised constructions in bud

It is commendable that the enforcement wing of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority successfully carried out a demolition drive by removing illegal structures and encroachments. However, I am concerned why such unauthorised constructions are permitted in the first place, leading to the government having to spend significant resources on demolishing these. It’s crucial to address the root of the problem before it escalates.
