The green belts alongside roads are becoming dumping grounds for garbage due to inadequate waste management measures. Many residential and commercial areas lack proper waste disposal facilities, leading residents and door-to-door waste collectors to dump garbage in any nearby open space. As a result, these green belts have become hotspots for waste accumulation. While the civic body claims to issue fines (challans) for violations, the enforcement of these measures is minimal compared to the scale of the problem. To address this, the authorities need to set up large dustbins at regular intervals — about 1-2 km apart — so that residents have designated spots to dispose of their waste. Additionally, raising awareness about cleanliness is crucial to encouraging responsible waste disposal. Ranmik Chahal, Faridabad

Waste dumped along road, locals complain of stench

RESIDENTS of Janakpuri, particularly near Jeevan Park, are grappling with the persistent stench of garbage along the road. Despite multiple complaints, the situation remains unresolved, with the pile of waste growing bigger. The once manageable heap has now expanded significantly, creating inconvenience for those passing by. The foul smell has become unbearable, particularly during peak hours, making daily commuting a challenging experience. With no immediate action taken, residents continue to face difficulties traversing the area due to the mounting garbage. Neeraj, Janakpuri
