What our readers say: Garbage in Shimla drains
PLASTIC water bottles and wrappers of edible items are being recklessly thrown by people in several drains of Shimla. This could lead to waterlogging, and makes the place look dirty. The authorities should take action against people who litter the drains.

Poor concrete roads in ‘Smart City’
MOST of the concrete roads, which were recently constructed in Dharamsala under the Smart City Project, were damaged during the recent monsoons. It is surprising that the concrete roads in the city, which are supposed to have a lifespan of more than a decade, have not withstood even a single monsoon. The government should order an inquiry into the poor construction and the wastage of taxpayers’ money. —Neeraj Sharma, Dharamsala
railway track in bad condition
THE Pathankot-Jogindernagar narrow gauge railway track is getting damaged due to the lack of regular repairs by the Railways. The Railways is supposedly not getting funds for the repair and maintenance of the track. It is unfortunate that the heritage railway track of Kangra is not being maintained. The leaders of the region should take note of this and work towards improving the track. —Satish Sharma, Panchrukhi
