leaders ignoring sanitation crisis
Faridabad is in a mess as sweepers don’t sweep both the main and the sector roads properly and have stopped lifting garbage since last year. It is one of the most polluted cities of the country and still no one is bothered as the elected representatives boast about winning elections and forget the public service they are supposed to render. Besides, stray cattle, monkeys and dogs are other areas of concern that residents have to face daily, but the government seems least bothered about these. —Vinay, Faridabad
Trash chokes drains in Narwana
MANY residential and market areas have open roadside drains and all sorts of litter and filth can be spotted in these. People dump huge quantities of trash, including plastic, which often leads to blockages in these drains, causing inconvenience to commuters and residents alike. During and after rain, water gets accumulated in streets due to the clogging of the sewerage system and open drains. The municipal corporation’s sanitary staff should get these open drains cleaned regularly. —Ramesh Gupta, Narwana
Stray cattle menace haunts Karnal residents
KARNAL residents are faced with umpteen problems arising due to the cattle menace in the city. Stray animals roam freely on roads, causing frequent traffic disruptions and posing serious safety risks to both pedestrians and motorists. The festive season has especially seen an increase in accidents caused by strays, particularly in busy areas and on market roads. Despite repeated complaints, efforts to control the situation have been limited. The authorities concerned should take immediate steps to address the issue. —Rajan Dhingra, karnal
