In Sirsa’s Preet Nagar which is located on Begu Road, the drinking water supply has been getting contaminated with sewage for years. This happens at least two-three times a week. Residents have complained to the department concerned, Municipal Council and the DC office, but no action has been taken. People are forced to either buy drinking water from outside or drink the contaminated water, leading to health problems. The current MLA, Gokul Setia, had launched a helpline for water-related issues, but those numbers are now not functional. Frustrated residents are urging the government to ensure clean water supply, questioning why they should pay water bills if they cannot get clean water.

Need to combat noise pollution

citizens have a constitutional right to have a peaceful environment. Noise pollution beyond prescribed norms is a serious punishable crime, which affects the hearing of people in the long run and also causes an unhealthy environment as commuters panic when bikes, cars and buses use modified silencers or have loud/unusual horns. The High Court has ordered strict action against noise polluters, but the Haryana Government should also take concrete preventive and remedial steps to combat noise pollution for the welfare of public.

Public toilets cry for maintenance

most of the public toilets in Rohtak city are poorly maintained. Many of them remain locked all the time. Those which are open lack cleanliness. More often than not, there is no water in the toilets. The authorities concerned should act.
