We want Kangana Ranaut, BJP to tender apology for remarks against farmers: Samyukt Kisan Morcha
Palwal, August 27
Expressing displeasure over the alleged remarks made against farmers by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, the district unit of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has claimed that the BJP seems to have failed to learn a lesson from the drubbing it got in the recent Lok Sabha elections. The SKM will not only oppose the BJP candidates in the ensuing state Assembly election, but will launch an agitation if no disciplinary action is taken against her soon, a spokesperson for the Morcha said.
The SKM spokesperson said that while a resolution of the condemnation has been adopted against the BJP MP, Ranaut’s statement exposed the stand of the ruling party on the issues of farmers and their demands. “While thousands of farmers had to face suppression and torture at the hands of the BJP government, the BJP had allowed its MP to make derogatory and insulting remarks against the food growers of the country,” said Mahender Singh Chauhan, one of the leaders of the SKM here.
He said the BJP’s statement that Kangana was not authorised to speak on policy matters and the party did not approve her remarks, was not acceptable. Strict disciplinary action must be taken against the MP, he added.
Another farmer leader Dharam Chand Gugera said nothing less than an official apology from the party and the MP was acceptable.
