Around 80 per cent work of the water supply project at Gahra village has been completed and the remaining work will be completed by the end of the year. The project worth Rs 100 crore will ensure water supply to 29 nearby villages. The project is being executed under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

This was informed by Executive Engineer (Public Health) Pradeep Yadav at a meeting of Subdivisional level officials held by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vivek Bharti at the Municipal Committee office in Kanina town here on Tuesday. On the occasion, the DC not only reviewed the ongoing projects but also interacted with officials about future plans of development.

At the meeting, the DC directed the officials to complete the project work of a sewerage treatment plant that will be built in Kanina soon. He also got information about drinking water and sewerage line works under the Amrit-2 scheme.

Regarding streetlights in Kanina, the municipal officials told the DC that 1,000 streetlights had been bought while 900 more streetlights were being ordered to cover the entire area.

The DC gave clear instructions to the officials that they should not confine themselves to only writing letters about any project but should follow it up till the end so that the public can get the benefit of the government project as soon as possible.

After the meeting, the DC also inspected the new subdivision-level administrative building being constructed in Kanina. This administrative building is likely to be completed by January. After this, the subdivision-level offices will come under one roof. He also inspected the Antyodaya Saral Kendra in Kanina and sought information about various schemes and services being provided here.

On the occasion, SDM Amit Kumar, DDPO Hariprakash Bansal and BDPO Navdeep Singh along with other officers were also present.
