Zirakpur: Water supply disrupted in four wards
Zirakpur, January 17
Residents of Ward No. 18, 19, 20 and 21 are facing water scarcity as the tubewell installed in Ward No. 20, which caters to the local residents, has been non-functional for three-four days. The residents are forced to make alternative arrangements for the potable water and other purposes.
The residents said officials of the Municipal Council had not been able to make the tubewell functional. “The normal water supply has been affected for the past some days. Residents in the area are facing a lot of problem as it is not possible to fetch buckets of water in the severe cold. People have complained to the MC officials and the contractor, but to no avail,” said Brajesh Sharma, a local resident.
Residents, especially housemakers, owing to the scarcity of potable water, our household work increased manifold.
Kiranjit Kaur said, “It is already four days and we do not know how long it will take for the MC to restore the water supply from the tubewell.”
Meanwhile, MC officials said the contractor had been asked to get the tubewell functional. “At present, we are trying to supply water to the area through the nearby tubewells. The situation will be back to normal in a day or two,” said the officials. —
