Family members of the jailed Waris Punjab De Chief and independent MP from Khadoor Sahib, Amritpal Singh, demanded an inquiry from a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding the murder of activist Gurpreet Singh Harinau. The family demanded the state government should entrust the inquiry to ensure that the truth comes out.

Amritpal’s father, Tarsem Singh, said, “It seems that it is a ploy to extend Amritpal’s detention in Dibrugarh Jail under the National Security Act.” He said Amritpal has been in jail for the past year and a half, adding that it was not possible for anyone to arrange a murder from jail, especially when he was being watched by national agencies.

He said Punjab Police should not behave as a judicial court.

The family stated they would also approach Akal Takht Jathedar to request him to raise voice for the atrocities being committed against Sikh youth.
