The Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in a joint operation with the Uttar Pradesh Police, has apprehended two notorious shooters backed by foreign handlers from Lucknow. They both were wanted in separate sensational murder cases in Ferozepur and Tarn Taran.

Bikramjit, alias Vicky, of Sur Singh village and Punjab Singh of Sandhra village in Tarn Taran were residing in a rented accommodation provided by their handlers in Lucknow. DGP Gaurav Yadav said Vicky was involved in the murder of Gopi Chohla, who was shot in Taran Tarn on March 1, 2024, while Punjab Singh was a key accused in the broad-daylight triple murder case of Dildeep Singh and two of his relatives at Ferozepur in September.

On September 3, around 12:50 pm, Dildeep Singh, Anmolpreet Singh, Jaspreet Kaur, Akashdeep and Harpreet were travelling in a car near Gurudwara Shri Akalgarh Sahib in the Kamboj Nagar area of Ferozepur, when six unidentified assailants opened fire on them. Dildeep, Akashdeep and their sister Jaspreet were killed, while Anmolpreet and Harpreet were injured in the firing.

The Punjab Police arrested six accused within seven days of the incident from Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

The DGP said both the arrested accused persons were history-sheeters. While Vicky faced 12 criminal cases pertaining to murder, robbery and NDPS Act, Punjab Singh had four criminal cases related to murder, NDPS Act, Arms Act and rape registered against him, said Yadav. The police also impounded a white coloured Hyundai Alcazar from them.

Sharing the operational details, ADGP AGTF Promod Ban said that a tip-off was received about possible hideouts and vehicle details of two shooters who were roaming in Lucknow. Acting swiftly, teams of AGTF under the supervision of AIG, AGTF, Sandeep Goel shared the information with the Lucknow police, and joint teams of AGTF led by DSP Bikramjit Brar and Inspector Pushwinder Singh along with UP cops successfully arrested the duo from Indira Nagar in Lucknow, he added.
