Wall collapse claims one life at factory
A wall collapse at an under-construction factory in Focal Point, Phase 7, here, resulted in the death of a labourer. Eight labourers were trapped. One of them, Mohammed Mosin Alam, lost his life while two others, Mohammed Rajan and Lalu, were severely injured. Five others sustained minor injuries.
The injured were rushed to a private hospital. Alam’s body was taken to the Civil Hospital mortuary.
Eyewitnesses reported that the 11-ft-high wall collapsed when the labourers were working. Locals rescued the trapped workers and informed the police. Mohammed Rasool stated that the factory was under construction, with around 10 labourers working at the site.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital. Onlookers speculated that use of substandard materials caused the tragedy. The police launched a probe into the incident.
