Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jai Ram Thakur today said the BJP was in favour of Himachal getting maximum assistance from the Centre and the walkout was against the objectionable remarks by a minister in the government and not the resolution moved in the Vidhan Sabha.

Talking to media persons outside the Assembly after the BJP staged a walkout during debate on the resolution moved by CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, LoP clarified that the BJP was not opposed to the resolution seeking financial assistance in view of damages caused by monsoons.

Thakur said today was a Private Member Day so bringing about a government resolution on the same day in the Assembly is unheard of. “Despite there being no such convention we decided to take part in the debate but one minister, habitual of using objectionable language started using derogatory language against me, which is unacceptable,” he said.

He regretted that the Chief Minister kept laughing despite use of highly objectionable language by the minister who earlier made derogatory remarks about Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut which still has not been removed from the House record. The government is violating rules and ministers have been given the right to say anything they wish to, said Thakur.
