VRS request of former Kapurthala DC Karnail Singh accepted

Former Deputy Commissioner of Kapurthala, Karnail Singh, who sought voluntary retirement on April 14, has been retired from service with retrospective effect from July 10 by Punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma, three months after his request for VRS. A notification in this regard was issued today.
Earlier, one month after the VRS request of Karnail Singh (2015 batch IAS officer), he was appointed as Special Secretary, Employment Generation and Training, on May 14.
Notably, Captain Karnail Singh working as Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala, was transferred on January 30 and not given any new posting. He had voluntarily sought retirement on April 14, only five months before his retirement on September 30.
Captain Karnail Singh told this correspondent today that he was waiting for the acceptance of his request only.
He strongly clarified that he neither sought VRS out of any grudges nor was he going to join politics.
Captain Karnail Singh, who remained the staff officer of former Chief Secretary VK Janjua, said his family members live abroad and he now wanted to spend his time with his family.
