A day after polling, the wrestler-turned-politician Vinesh Phogat who made her political debut as Congress candidate from Julana segment proceeded on a religious tour to Salasar dham in Churu district of Rajasthan.

Vinesh’s father-in-law Rajpal Rathee informed The Tribune that all family members and the team had worked hard throughout the campaign. “I have been on duty at the strongroom at the district headquarters in Jind where the EVMs are kept... since Vinesh needed a break from the hectic schedule and expressed her desire to visit a religious place, she proceeded to Salasar after the polling and is scheduled to return tomorrow,” he said.

Rathee expressed confidence that they were set to win by a comfortable margin which could cross 30,000 votes.

Close aides of Vinesh who worked as a team during her campaign said: “Despite all the limelight and media glare, she managed to maintain her composure. It was quite a task to deal with mediapersons who visited Julana from across the country to interview her. However, she somehow managed everything,” said a team member. She visited all 73 villages during the campaign and even made a dash in about 30 villages on the polling day.

Family sources said Vinesh yesterday night headed for her native Balali village in Charkhi Dadri to meet her mother before proceeding for Salasar Dham. “She will return at her residence in Khera Bakhta village of Julana by tomorrow,” said a family member.
