Residents of Jallewal village nabbed two persons and handed them over to the Sarhali police when they were fleeing after committing crime on Sunday.

ASI Gurdial Singh said the suspects were identified as Charanjit Singh Baju and Jobanjit Singh, both residents of Sarhali. The ASI said the suspects had forcibly taken a bike and cash from one Virsa Singh, a resident of Jallewal village. Virsa Singh along with his uncle Surjit Singh were coming back from Naushehra Pannuan when the suspects waylaid them on canal path ahead of Jallewal village. When suspects were fleeing after committing the crime, Virsa Singh and Surjit Singh raised an alarm. Hearing their cries farmers working in nearby fields rushed to the spot and nabbed robbers and handed them over to the police.

The suspects were booked under Sections 304 and 3 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in this connection. The suspects were produced in a court today which sent them to two-day police remand.
