Villagers ban entry of BJP-JJP leaders

Up in arms against the three farm laws, residents of Narukheri village on Tuesday announced to boycott BJP-JJP leaders. They said that if any villager violated the order, he/she would have to face social boycott.
The ‘diktat’ was issued at a panchayat held in the village, which was attended by scores of residents. It was decided that a minimum of Rs 100 per acre would be contributed towards funds and one of the family members would join the agitation at Delhi borders.

“We stand firmly with farmers. A panchayat was called to collect funds. We have announced a complete boycott of BJP-JJP leaders,” said Virender Narwal, a farmer from the village, who runs business in Mumbai and Bengaluru. He has returned to his native village to support his brethren.
“The laws are against farmers and the Union Government should repeal them,” he said, adding that he had already mobilised farmers in Bengaluru.
Sandeep Narwal, a former sarpanch of the village, said the decision to boycott the ruling party leaders was taken unanimously. “One member from each family will join the agitation at Delhi borders,” he added.
Meanwhile, a panchayat was also organised at Bhadson village, where farmers from surrounding areas also decided to ban the entry of BJP-JJP leaders. “We will send more tractor-trailers to the agitation in the coming days,” said a farmer.
Garnering support
BKU members are reaching out to villagers to garner support. “We are holding meetings with villagers and farmers in different areas to seek support,” said Rattan Mann, state president of the BKU. Meanwhile, langar sewa has resumed near Oasis Tourist Complex on NH-44.
Highway blocked
Farmers camping at the Baddowala toll plaza in Jind district on Tuesday blocked the Jind-Chandigarh highway in protest against Internet shutdown. They said their children were unable to attend online classes. The protesters, however, did not stop emergency vehicles.
Net ban extended
The Government has extended the suspension of mobile Internet services, SMS services and all dongle services provided on mobile networks, except voice calls, in seven districts — Kaithal, Panipat, Jind, Rohtak, Charkhi Dadri, Sonepat and Jhajjar — till 5 pm on February 3.
