The Kurukshetra police have launched a probe in connection with a video going viral on social media in which supporters of a party candidate allegedly raised slogans in favour of Pakistan and Khalistan.

An event was organised on Sunday at Dabkheri village and later in a video clip shared on social media, a voice could be heard raising slogans in favour of Pakistan and Khalistan. Members of the Bazigar community, who had organised the event on Sunday, submitted a complaint to the police on Monday and claimed that the video was doctored by some anti-social elements and it had hurt their sentiments.

Dalip Singh, a Bazigar community leader, said an event was organised in support of Congress leader Ashok Arora on Sunday at a palace in Dabkheri village in view of the Assembly elections. But, later some anti-social elements tampered with a video clip of the event and added slogans in favour of Pakistan and Khalistan, while no such slogans were raised during the event, he said, adding that the clip had gone viral on social media.

There is resentment in the community and the police should take action against these people. Congress leader Ashok Arora said, “It shows the frustration of the opposition party.

The Bazigar community extended its support to the Congress following which some people started defaming the community by spreading a doctored video. The community has submitted a complaint to the police, and we demand that strict action should be taken against the person behind this act.” A case has been registered at the Kurukshetra University police station under the IT Act and other relevant sections of the BNS against unidentified person. Kurukshetra SP Varun Singla said, “A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.”
