Victory of truth, every girl’s struggle: Vinesh Phogat

International wrestler Vinesh Phogat got the entire nation’s empathy when she missed an Olympic medal. Today, she got the support of Julana Assembly constituency in Jind district, from where she won her debut election, although by a mere 6,015 votes.

The reason: Her supporters were expecting that on winning the election, Vinesh would be made the Sports Minister in the Congress government, which they were sure would be formed in the state.

“It is the victory of truth and the struggle of every girl and woman who dares to fight,” Vinesh maintained while talking to reporters after being declared the winner. Asked whether she would continue in politics or still pursue a career in sports, she replied that she would now give everything to politics since the people had given her a lot of love and she had accepted the responsibility to work for them. Apart from Vinesh, all winners from the other four constituencies in Jind district are from the BJP.
