Each cart costs Rs 1 lakh, for which funds were provided by the Power Grid Corporation Limited under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) and there was a plan to give the carts to the beneficiaries on subsidised rates. The project has been hanging fire for more than two years and the carts have been lying in the open area of Sri Krishna Museum in Kurukshetra.
Subhash Sudha enquired about the carts and asked the officials to allot the carts to the real beneficiaries.
“A budget provided under the CSR was used to procure the carts and these should be allotted to the beneficiaries so that they could sell their products on the carts outside the Brahma Sarovar. A special cleanliness drive will be carried out in the city before the IGM and the traffic condition will also be improved so that the visitors who reach here from across the country don’t face any inconvenience. The officials have also been told to ensure allotment of stalls for craft and saras fairs in a smooth manner. Various events will be organised on the Tirthas spread over 48-kos land and directions have been issued to the officials to ensure adequate arrangements for drinking water facilities for visitors”, the former MLA said, after the meeting.
