VB sleuths nab ASI taking Rs 20K bribe
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested ASI Amrik Singh, posted at Patran police station, while he was allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 20,000.
A spokesperson for bureau said the accused had been arrested based on a complaint lodged by Ashok Kumar, a resident of Patran town.
He had alleged that a case had been registered against him and his associates at the Patran police station and the police official was allegedly demanding a bribe of 20,000 to submit a cancellation report in the court pertaining to his case.
After a preliminary inquiry into this complaint, a VB team laid a trap during which the ASI was arrested in the presence of two official witnesses. A case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation into the case is under progress.
