VB nabs ASI for accepting Rs 10K bribe

The VB nabbed Punjab Police Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurmail Singh while accepting Rs 10,000 bribe.

An official said, “As per the complainant, the police had registered a case against his brother Madan Lal, who himself was an ASI, in July 2023, in which the suspect, Gurmail, was the investigation officer. As per the complainant, Gurmail had taken Rs 10,000 bribe at the time of registration of the FIR.”
“Gurmail had to submit a report regarding Madan Lal’s death in court on the basis of which the family members could apply for the job on compassionate grounds. The suspect took a bribe for that too,” the official added.
The VB officials said the suspects were nabbed red-handed.
VB officials said a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered.
