The Cyber Crime police station of Central Range, Mandi, yesterday arrested Kulveer (27), a native of Uttar Pradesh, in a fraud case of Rs 20 lakh.

According to Manmohan Singh, Additional SP, Cyber Crime police station, Central Range, Mandi, the arrest was made following a complaint from a former Army officer that Kulveer had executed a digital arrest by falsely claiming that illegal items, including counterfeit passports and narcotics, were associated with the victim. Kulveer manipulated the victim into believing that the latter had got into serious legal trouble, forcing him to transfer funds.

“Kulveer, a graduate, has been evading arrest for five months by frequently changing his location. He was arrested through technical surveillance,” he said.
