Deputy Commissioner Mahavir Kaushik has encouraged farmers to take advantage of the state government’s crop diversification schemes, aimed at reducing risks from traditional farming and boosting farmers’ economic strength.

Kaushik highlighted that under the Horticulture Department’s schemes, farmers are provided subsidies for establishing various types of orchards. He noted that a special grant scheme has been implemented for citrus and guava orchards in the district, offering a grant of Rs 43,000 per acre for high-density orchards of crops like guava, citrus, and strawberries. Additionally, under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), farmers will receive Rs 23,000 in the first year and Rs 10,000 each in the second and third years for orchard maintenance.

He said farmers can procure plants from recognised nurseries, with details available on www.nhb.gov.in. To benefit from these schemes, farmers must register their horticultural crops on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal and complete their application on https://hortnet.gov.in. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, with a subsidy available for a maximum of 10 acres per farmer. For more details, farmers can contact the District Horticulture Officer’s office in Bhiwani.
