US citizen, 17 other trekkers rescued from Pin Parvati Pass in Spiti valley

The Kaza administration rescued 18 stranded trekkers, including one US citizen, from the Pin Parvati Pass in the Spiti valley of Lahaul and Spiti yesterday.
The police received information that 18 trekkers were stranded 12 km from Mudh village towards the Pin Parvati Pass in Spiti. A rescue team, including personnel of the police, ITBP and the local administration, was dispatched immediately. “The team successfully located 18 trekkers near the Tenma Top, 18 km from Mudh village. The group consisted of one guide, nine tourists and nine porters. Due to fatigue, five tourists, four porters and the lone guide preferred to stay at the Tanma camping site. The rescue team escorted the remaining four tourists and four porters to Kaza ,” said a police officer.
He added, “Among the stranded people, Richard Oman, a US citizen, was not feeling well and was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Kaza. All trekkers were rescued safely and the overall situation remains peaceful,” he added.
