Andhra Pradesh, 11th June 2024 – At an age when she should be creating joyous childhood memories, little Hithaishi is suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type-1. This rare and debilitating genetic disorder has stolen her ability to move, breathe, and enjoy the simple pleasures of being a child. Now, her family is desperately seeking assistance via Impact Guru to provide her with a life-saving treatment.

Hithaishi’s condition can be treated with zolgensma, a groundbreaking gene therapy that costs INR 17.5 Cr. Despite their best efforts and countless pleas for help, her family is now turning to the generosity of the public for support in their race against time to save their precious daughter.

“My daughter Hithaishi’s birth brought me great joy. My happiness knew no bounds when the nurse handed over my child to me. The world stopped then, and nothing else mattered except my daughter. She was so cute that I couldn’t help but shower her with love and kisses,” recalls her mother.

Her joy was short-lived.”My heart broke the day I learned that my daughter is suffering from SMA Type-1. I am watching her struggle to move her legs. It brings tears to my eyes to see my daughter in such a situation. Every day, I pray for her well-being.”

Hithaishi’s family comes from a modest middle-class background, they have nearly already spent all their savings on her previous treatments. Despite their financial hardships, they are determined to do everything possible to save their daughter.
