Unpaid bills: 862 consumers face power disconnection
The Tissa Electricity Subdivision of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) has issued notices to 862 consumers in the Churah subdivision of Chamba district, warning of temporary disconnection due to unpaid electricity bills.
Consumers have 15 days to settle their dues, after which non-compliance will result in disconnection. To restore their electricity, defaulters will need to clear the pending amounts and pay a reconnection fee of Rs 250.
The outstanding dues from these consumers amount to Rs 22.39 lakh, leading to significant revenue losses for the HPSEB despite repeated reminders. This financial strain persists even with the government’s provision of 120 units of free electricity for domestic consumers.
Assistant Engineer (SDO) Amit Thakur from Tissa confirmed that notices were sent to the defaulters, giving them a final 15-day period to pay. If the bills remain unpaid, the board will proceed with disconnections. Thakur emphasised the need for timely payments to maintain services and reduce losses for the electricity board.
