'Unexplained slowdown' in updating of Haryana results on website: Cong complains to EC

In the first reaction to Haryana election results the Congress questioned the Election Commission on alleged slow uploading of trend data on their official website.

The Congress leaders said whereas several rounds have been counted, the EC was uploading trends for a lesser number of rounds.

"Like the Lok Sabha elections, in Haryana we are again witnessing slowing down of uploading up-to- date trends on the ECI website. Is the BJP trying to build pressure on administration by sharing outdated and misleading trends @ECISVEEP?" AICC general secretary Jairam Ramesh asked the EC tagging it.

The Congress complained to the ECI, claiming that between 9 and 11 am there has been 'unexplained slowdown' in updating of Haryana results on poll body's website.

Congress media chairman Pawan Khera alleged that around 15 rounds had been counted but results for only the first few rounds were being reflected on EC website. Why is there this mismatch, asked Khera.

In its response, the poll authority said counting of votes is being carried out as per Rule 60 of Conduct of Election Rules at the designated counting centres and by the designated authorities following statutory and regulatory regime.

The EC said the entire counting process in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir is unfolding in the presence of candidates, observers and micro-observers as per rules.

“There is nothing on record to substantiate your ill-founded allegation of slowdown in updating of results. Your memorandum also does not bring out any contrary facts as to the delay at any of the constituencies in Haryana or J-K,” it told Jairam Ramesh.
