Nishad Kumar, who was part of the Indian contingent at the 2020 Paralympics at Tokyo, Japan, and had won a silver medal, is again participating at the 2024 Paralympics, which is being held in Paris. Nishad, a resident of Baduan village in Amb subdivision of Una district, is slated to give his first performance on September 1.
He had won the medal in the men’s high jump-T47 category in Tokyo, where he had also created a new Asian record of 2.06 m. He had shared the medal with the USA’s Dallas Wise, who had also cleared the same distance of 2.06 m. At the 2022 Asian Para Games, Nishad won the gold medal in the men’s high jump-T47 category at Hangzhou in China.

The Government of India had honoured him with the Arjuna Award.
